Danley Sound Labs, Inc. of Gainesville, Georgia, US, has chosen the ICEpower1000ASP amplifier for its new 40 kWatt “Matterhorn” subwoofer the most powerful ever created. Originally developed to meet military requirements, the Matterhorn is intended for massive outdoor events where sound must be distributed over a vast area. The Matterhorn was unveiled at the recent NSCA Expo in Orlando, Florida. It features 40 subwoofer drivers each powered by its own ICEpower1000ASP 1000 Watt amplifier, for the total of 40,000 Watts. The unit is capable of astonishing 105 dB sound pressure level measured 250 meters away, and the frequency response extends to the earth-shaking 12 Hz. The entire unit is built into a shipping container of the size 20 x 8 x 8 feet (6.1 x 2.4 x 2.4 meters), complete with its own generator, making the installation and transportation more convenient.
